Let’s start at the very beginning.

I have been fortunate enough to be granted the Developing Your Creative Practice (DYCP) grant from Arts Council to develop a Portfolio of work for children’s book illustration! Already the grant has proven so beneficial, allowing me to buy well needed equipment and subscribe to artists I aspire to and can learn from. I have been stuck in a rut with my art for the past year and a half, where studying took precedence and left very little energy for any other art making. I have now completed my MA and am excited about where this year of development will take me. I’m also interested to see the ways Art Therapy will come through in my work.

I’m taking Skillshare classes, reading my Patreon feed like the paper, and vehemently studying picture books. All of which brings me great joy, and makes me feel more like myself than I have in a long while. This will be a year of experimentation, and exploration. My aim is to make a pool of work from which to draw the pieces which best represent me and demonstrate my skill. Not everything will make it, and I don’t expect everything to be my best work, but I’ll be keeping this blog to record it all anyway.
